FAQ
Visiting/Consultation
-
Not at all — and honestly, most of our customers don't. Coming in with a vague idea, a feeling, or even just a budget is completely fine. That's what the consultation is for. You might say 'I want something elegant but not too flashy' or 'she loves vintage things' and we'll take it from there. If you have reference images saved on your phone, bring them along — even ones you don't fully like are helpful because they tell us what to avoid.
At Cupid Jewellery, we mean it when we say anything goes. A constellation of your wedding date in diamonds. Your cat's face engraved on the inner band. Her favorite character on the setting where only you two know the story. Whatever detail makes the ring unmistakably, uniquely, perfectly yours — bring it to us. If you can dream it, we'll find a way to put it on a ring.
-
It starts with a conversation at our showroom — we'll get to know what you're envisioning, talk through your budget and timeline, and give you honest advice from the start. Our designers then get to work on sketches and 3D renderings, refining it together with you until every detail feels right. Once the design is confirmed, we'll guide you through selecting the metal and stone that bring it to life. From there, our craftsmen handcraft the piece in-house with close attention to every detail — no outsourcing, no shortcuts. When it's ready, it goes through a full quality check and polish before it reaches your hands, finished and ready to wear. Nothing moves forward at any stage without your approval.
-
Honestly, it's split pretty evenly these days — about half of our customers come in alone to plan a surprise proposal, and the other half bring their partner along to design the ring together. Neither is more romantic than the other; it really just comes down to what feels right for you two. Some people love the idea of a perfectly kept secret; others would rather their partner wear something they had a hand in choosing. Both make for a great story.
And if you're coming in solo but quietly worried about whether your taste will do her justice — don't stress. We have a few tricks up our sleeve for exactly that situation. Just mention it when you reach out to us and we'll walk you through how we can help. -
Before production starts, changes are straightforward and usually at no extra cost. Once we've begun casting and setting, significant changes become harder — similar to how you can't easily move a wall once a house is built. That's why we take the design approval stage seriously and encourage you to take your time with the render. We'd rather spend an extra week on revisions than have you receive something that isn't quite right. If something genuinely isn't what you expected after delivery, talk to us — we'll always try to find a fair solution.
-
We produce a detailed 3D CAD render before anything is fabricated — a photorealistic image of your ring from multiple angles, with your chosen stone placed inside it. This gives you a very accurate preview of proportions, setting style, and overall appearance. For complex designs, we can also produce a resin or wax prototype that you can physically hold. The render stage is your best opportunity to catch anything you'd like adjusted, and we encourage you to look at it critically rather than just being polite about it.
-
This is the question we get most often, and it's a fair one to ask. Because we use 3D renders and keep you involved throughout, the finished piece almost always matches what was approved — but if something genuinely looks or feels different from what you expected, please come to us directly. We'll assess whether the issue is a manufacturing fault, a miscommunication, or a change of preference, and we'll work with you honestly from there. We're a small team and our reputation is built on long-term customer relationships, not one-time transactions.

Walk-ins are always welcome — if you happen to be in the area and want to stop by, please do. That said, we do recommend booking an appointment in advance so we can dedicate our full attention to you from the moment you arrive. With an appointment, your consultation is unhurried, the right team member is ready for you, and the conversation can go as deep as it needs to. To book, just reach out to us via WhatsApp or through our website — it only takes a minute to set up.

Not knowing your ring size is completely normal — most people don't. There are a few ways to figure it out: borrowing a ring she already wears on her ring finger and bringing it in for us to measure is the most accurate method. Alternatively, a jeweller can size your finger directly during a visit. If it's a surprise proposal and measuring isn't possible, a good fallback is to go slightly larger — resizing down is generally easier and cleaner than sizing up. As a reference point, the average ring size for women in Malaysia sits around size 12–13 (US size 6–6.5), which is a reasonable starting point if you have absolutely nothing else to go on.
At Cupid Jewellery, we offer a complimentary resize service after delivery — so even if the size isn't perfect on proposal day, we've got you covered. Just bring the ring back in and we'll take care of it. Getting the proposal moment right matters far more than getting the size right on the first try.

Ring engraving is one of the most personal touches you can add to a piece of jewellery — a date, a name, a coordinate, a single word that only the two of you understand. Most fine jewellery can be engraved either on the inner band (hidden and intimate) or the outer surface (visible and decorative), depending on the design. Modern laser engraving allows for incredible precision, including scripts, fine illustrations, and even small portraits.
At Cupid Jewellery, yes — we do engraving, and we love it. It's one of those finishing details that costs very little but means everything. If you have something in mind, bring it to us at the design stage so we can factor it into the ring properly from the start.

The four most common choices for fine engagement and wedding rings are white gold and rose gold — both in 18k — followed by yellow gold and platinum. White gold achieves its bright white finish through rhodium plating, giving it a clean, modern look that pairs beautifully with most diamond shapes; the plating will need to be refreshed every one to three years. Rose gold has a romantic, warm blush tone that has grown enormously in popularity and works particularly well with warmer skin tones. Yellow gold is the timeless classic, naturally warm in colour and requiring no surface maintenance. Platinum is the most durable and naturally white of the four — denser and heavier than gold, with no plating required, and a finish that develops a gentle patina over time.
At Cupid Jewellery, all four metals are available for customisation across our full range of bespoke designs. If you're unsure which suits your partner best, our team can help you narrow it down based on her existing jewellery, skin tone, and lifestyle.

Yes — at Cupid Jewellery, our bespoke customisation service covers more than just rings. Pendants, bracelets, necklaces, and other fine jewellery pieces are all within our capabilities. You're welcome to visit our showroom where we have pendants and necklaces on display, so you can see the quality and craftsmanship of our work firsthand before committing to a commission. If you have something specific in mind, reach out or book an appointment — we'll take it from there.

Any diamond we source above 0.30ct will come with a grading certificate from GIA or IGI — internationally recognised independent laboratories that verify the stone's quality. The certificate is your permanent proof of what you purchased and is essential for insurance purposes. You'll also receive a full invoice detailing the metal, stone specifications, and workmanship.
Payment
-
We accept cash, credit and debit card (Visa and Mastercard), and bank transfer. All payments are processed at our showroom — if you have any questions about payment arrangements for a specific commission, feel free to ask us directly during your consultation.

Yes — we offer a 12-month, 0% instalment plan via Public Bank. Subject to bank approval and minimum spend. Ask us about it during your consultation and we'll assist you from there.

Yes — and we mean it beyond just handing you the ring. Every Cupid Jewellery purchase comes with a lifetime manufacturer warranty, a one-time complimentary resize within 60 days, a free re-polish within two years, and lifetime cleaning and inspection visits whenever you bring it in. We're here long after the proposal.
-
Bespoke jewellery is something we believe deserves a proper conversation — the kind that's difficult to replicate through a screen and a form. Every Cupid Jewellery commission begins with an in-person consultation at our showroom, where we can understand your vision, show you stones and materials in real life, and give you advice that's genuinely tailored to you. We don't take orders online, and that's a deliberate choice — it's how we ensure every piece gets the attention it deserves from the very first step. To get started, simply book an appointment and we'll take it from there.
About Us
-
What sets us apart comes down to two things:
We take on designs that many jewellers won't — complex, unconventional, and deeply personal concepts that require both technical skill and genuine creative commitment. Beyond that, our approach has always been customer-first rather than catalogue-first.
We don't present a range and ask you to choose — we start with your story, your relationship, the details that are uniquely yours, and design around that. The ring you receive isn't just something that looks beautiful. It's something that means something.
-
Yes — at Cupid Jewellery, our founders and lead consultants are both certified gemologists with qualifications across multiple recognised programmes, including some of the more rigorous certifications in the field. When you sit down with us, you're speaking directly with people who understand diamonds and gemstones at a technical level — not just a sales level. That means the advice you receive on stone quality, grading, and value is grounded in proper expertise, not just experience behind a counter.
