The Bespoke Ribbon Commission: A Dual Heart-Shaped Diamond Bow Engagement Ring

The Bespoke Ribbon Commission: A Dual Heart-Shaped Diamond Bow Engagement Ring

The Bespoke Journey: Re-engineering the Bow Motif

In the luxury jewelry sector, the "bow" or "ribbon" motif is a timeless classic, but it is often executed lazily by mass-market retailers who simply pave a flat metal ribbon with microscopic melee diamonds. For this bespoke commission, we abandoned that pedestrian approach entirely.

The client demanded a piece that was inherently romantic but structurally formidable. To achieve this, our master artisans utilized two substantial, independent center stones—each a perfectly proportioned 0.30ct heart-shaped diamond. By orienting them horizontally and locking them point-to-point, the diamonds themselves become the ribbon. It is a brilliant, high-flex execution of bespoke engineering, proving that Cupid Jewellery can take a deeply feminine concept and elevate it through uncompromising diamond curation and architectural precision.

Architectural & Aesthetic Feature Breakdown

1. The Dual Heart Centerpiece

  • Precision Diamond Matching: The defining feature of this ring is the pairing of two 0.30-carat heart-shaped diamonds. For this architecture to succeed, the two stones must be impeccably matched in cut, color, clarity, and exact dimensional spread. Even a millimeter of variance would ruin the symmetry of the ribbon.

  • Point-to-Point Orientation: Unlike traditional settings where a heart diamond sits vertically, these stones are rotated 90 degrees and set point-to-point. This creates the immediate, undeniable silhouette of a tied ribbon or butterfly, maximizing the surface area and light return across the top of the finger.

2. The Asymmetrical Bypass Shank

  • Fluid White Gold Metalwork: The foundation of the ring is a sleek, high-polish white gold band. Rather than a standard straight shank, the ring utilizes a dynamic bypass architecture. The band sweeps fluidly from opposite directions, contouring perfectly to cradle the rounded, outer lobes of the heart diamonds.

  • Ergonomic Tension: This bypass design not only provides essential structural security for the outer edges of the diamonds but also gives the ring a sense of kinetic movement, as if the ribbon has just been pulled taut.

3. Minimalist Setting Architecture

  • Shared-Point Prongs: To maintain the illusion of a seamless ribbon, the setting infrastructure must be nearly invisible. The diamonds are secured at their apex by a microscopic, shared center prong bead, allowing the two points to touch without risking friction or chipping, while delicate outer prongs anchor the lobes securely to the bypass shank.
